'Borneo Bloc' will give Sabah, Sarawak stronger voice to fight for MA63 rights, says Salleh Said

KOTA KINABALU: The proposal to form a Borneo Bloc will give Sabah and Sarawak a stronger representation to fight for state rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), says Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.

The former Sabah chief minister said this would allow for closer cooperation between the two states on matters of common interest.

However, if the term "Borneo Bloc" is deemed sensitive, Salleh suggested for it to be described as a Sarawak-Sabah partnership.

"If Sarawak and Sabah handle major issues separately, their bargaining position may weaken. When they coordinate their views and speak together, their voices will be stronger.

"Of course, some issues may differ but on matters of common interest, it makes sense to work together," he added.
