Man killed, sister injured in stab attack

SUNGAI PETANI: Three suspects were detained to assist police in investigations into the fatal slashing of a man in front of his sister at the entrance of his home yesterday.

The victim’s younger sister almost lost her hand in the machete attack, which took place in the early morning at Taman Kempas in Kedah.

Kuala Muda police chief Hanyan Ramlan said the deceased, in his late 20s, was repeatedly slashed and then died in front of his home.

“The incident is believed to have occurred between midnight and 2am.

“The victim’s younger sister was also injured in the attack, and her hand was almost severed,” he said in a statement reported by Bernama yesterday.

Hanyan added that several other weapons that were believed to have been used in the attack were discovered at the scene during police investigations.

He said a post mortem is being carried out on the victim’s body at Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim, where his injured sister is also warded for treatment.
