Kuching flood situation fully recovers


KUCHING: The flood situation in Kuching has fully recovered after the two temporary relief centres (PPS) that were in operation were closed.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said the relief centres at R-Piang Hall and Stapok Community Hall, opened on Tuesday (March 10), were closed at 12 noon on Wednesday (March 11).

"At 8am on Wednesday, the R-Piang Hall relief centre housed 116 evacuees from 24 families involving residents from Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, while the Stapok Community Hall relief centre accommodated 225 evacuees from 67 families involving residents of Kampung Desa Ria,” Sarawak JPBN said in a statement.

Several areas in Kuching city began experiencing flooding following continuous heavy rain on Tuesday morning. — Bernama
