Festive holidays foster ties and diversity, says Nga

PUTRAJAYA: Every festive holiday is an opportunity to foster stronger ties and diversity among all, says Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

He said the Housing and Local Government Ministry takes the initiative to celebrate all major festivals together with the multicultural community.

"Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Christmas are celebrated because the spirit of togetherness we experience carries deep meaning for all of us as Malaysians.

"May the dignity and blessings experienced during the month of Ramadan be shared among one another," he said on Tuesday (March 10).

Nga spoke during the "Sentuhan Kasih Ramadan" programme with the ministry staff.

He added that the ministry also hosted a Ramadan event for its members where he and Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu presented contributions.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri aid in the form of cash assistance and aid baskets was presented to 108 staff members in need.

The initiative was led by the Housing and Local Government Ministry Welfare and Sports Body (Keskep) and the Association of Wives and Women Members of the Malaysian Public Service (Puspanita).

It aims to ease the financial burden of the ministry staff in preparing for the Hari Raya celebration.
