RM3bil earmarked for women entrepreneurs


PETALING JAYA: The Entre­pre­neur Development and Coope­ra­tives Ministry aims to assist 300,000 Malaysian women entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses through the Women Entre­preneurs Economic Fund (Dewi) Initiative.

Minister Steven Sim (pic) said more funds would be allocated for the small and medium enterprises market.

“In conjunction with Inter­national Women’s Day (IWD), I am not only handing out roses but I have also announced RM3bil for Dewi.

“Through this Dewi initiative, I aim to assist 300,000 Malaysian women entrepreneurs to expand their businesses.

“We are on the way to make Malaysian businesses great!” he said in a post on social media yesterday.

Dewi was launched in conjunction with IWD 2026, which is ­cele­­­bra­ted annually on March 8.

On March 5, Sim said the ini­tiative is expected to benefit between 200,000 and 300,000 women ent­re­preneurs across the micro, small and medium ­enterprise spectrum nationwide.

The initiative offers financing ranging from as low as RM1,000 up to RM3mil for women ­entrepreneurs and women- owned MSMEs.
