Sabah MACC nabs former assistant accountant over suspected false documents submission

KOTA KINABALU: A former assistant accountant with a government agency was arrested on suspicion of submitting false documents involving maintenance works worth about RM90,000.

The woman in her 50s was nabbed by graft investigators from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here at about 1pm Friday (March 7) during an operation, sources said.

"Initial investigations found that the suspect is believed to have committed the act around 2025 by submitting government purchase orders, invoices and company quotations containing false details involving supplies and upgrading and maintenance works at her department.

"The suspect is also suspected of directly appointing a company owned by her family members to obtain bribes," the source said.

Sabah MACC director Datuk Fuad Bee Basrah when contacted Saturday (March 7), confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Sections 18 and 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
