Cops find drugs in 4WD after fatal crash in Muar

MUAR: Police found drugs in a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle after it was involved in a fatal accident with a motorcycle on Jalan Rencong in Lenga near here.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the drugs were 20 erimin pills weighing 5.15g, and 0.39g of syabu.

He said the incident took place at 8.42am on Wednesday (Feb 4) when the 4WD driven by a 39-year-old local man travelling from Pagoh towards Lenga veered into the opposite lane.

“The vehicle then crashed into a motorcycle coming from the other direction at a road corner," he said in a statement.

He said the motorcyclist and pillion rider succumbed to severe injuries while receiving treatment at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital here.

ACP Raiz Mukhliz said the victims were identified as Norman Ahmad, 47, and his 77-year-old uncle Sa’at Kassim, both from Kampung Bukit Bandar in Bukit Kepong, Muar.

"The driver of the 4WD tested positive for methamphetamine," he said, adding that the suspect will be brought to the Magistrate's Court for a remand order.

The case is being investigated under 44(1)(A) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(A) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
