Body of man, 34, found floating in Inanam River

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a 34-year-old man was found floating in a river in Inanam near here early Sunday (March 1).

A City Hall worker who stumbled upon the body at the Kalansanan River in Kampung Kalansanan alerted police to the matter at about 10.27am, said Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda.

“After receiving the call, our men went to the site to investigate and later identified the body as that of a permanent resident,” he said in a statement, adding that no criminal elements had been found at the scene so far.

There were also no signs of injuries or foul play at this time, he said.

ACP Kasim said the body was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

“Please refrain from making any speculations or spreading unverified details that could jeopardise our investigations,” he said, urging those with reliable information to contact the police and assist in the probe.
