Two more suspects nabbed over shooting of APKS senior officer's car

ALOR SETAR: Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting incident involving a senior officer of Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The Home Minister said the suspects, both local men, aged 51 and 58 years old, were arrested on Friday (Feb 27) night in connection with the incident currently under police investigation.

He said the arrests were made following information obtained from the first batch of detainees.

“Based on interrogations and initial findings, we identified two more individuals, which led to the latest arrests last night,” he said at a press conference after visiting the AKPS office at Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex on Saturday (Feb 28).

On Wednesday (Feb 25), seven suspects aged from 22 to 52 years old were arrested in a series of raids in Bukit Kayu Hitam and Padang Besar, Perlis, on the day of the incident between 10.30am and 6pm.

This came after shots were fired at an SUV driven by AKPS commander Senior Asst Comm Mohd Nasaruddin Mohd Nasir at 5.40am the same day on the road leading to Masjid Al-Muhajirin in Bukit Kayu Hitam, around 1km from the Malaysia-Thailand border.

Two suspects on a motorcycle had discharged two rounds from a semi-automatic weapon at the vehicle.
