Special panel to submit findings over Azam Baki share issue probe next week, says Fahmi

PUTRAJAYA: A special investigation panel is expected to submit its findings next week into allegations that Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki owned shares worth millions of ringgit, says Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

The Communications Minister said it was revealed following a Cabinet meeting that the special panel headed by Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar was close to concluding its probe.

Speaking at a press conference here on Friday (Feb 27), he added that the police are also carrying out investigations to ascertain if the MACC abused its powers for corporate gain.

"The police are expediting their probe to identify those involved and bring them to book if they have breached any laws," he said.

Fahmi said the Cabinet would study the panel's findings before deciding on the next course of action and if there is a need to form a Royal Commission of Inquiry.
