Cops on dismemberment case arrest father and son

KOTA KINABALU: A father and son have been arrested to assist in the investigations over the gruesome murder of a woman whose dismembered body parts were found in Indah Permai near here.

The suspects were nabbed separately at around 8.10pm and 10.30pm on Thursday, said Kota Kinabalu acting OCPD Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman.

He said prior to the arrest, a team of investigators were informed that a woman, believed to be the victim, was last seen running out of a house in Kg Sri Kenangan, Sepanggar, before a man allegedly pulled her back in.

“Following leads, our team tracked down the first suspect, a 71-year-old man, who was receiving treatment at a hospital, and arrested him there,” he said.

Supt Syed Lot said a 19-year-old was subsequently nabbed at Taman Seri Maju Apartment in Sepanggar, adding that items such as handphones, clothes and a vehicle were seized.

“Both suspects are being probed for murder,” he added.

A seven-day remand has been obtained for both suspects.

On Thursday, a trash collector stumbled upon a dismembered arm that fell out of a rubbish bag when picking up trash.

This led to more discoveries of body parts in other dumpsites close by.
