Anwar attends Pongal celebration near Ipoh

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took the opportunity on Saturday (Feb 14) to be with the Hindu community celebrating Pongal in Tanjung Rambutan, Ipoh, Perak, during his working visit to Tambun.

In a Facebook post, the Prime Minister said that on the occasion, he conveyed the message that Malaysia must continue to remain peaceful and that all issues must be handled prudently.

"I conveyed that this country must continue to remain peaceful and uphold the sovereignty of the rule of law, and that all issues require prudent handling, not by continuously fuelling disputes," he said in the post.

The Prime Minister also touched on the government's efforts to resolve the issue of places of worship built unlawfully.

"As with many other legacy issues that the Madani government has resolved, the issue of places of worship built illegally will also be resolved courageously, wisely and conclusively without compromising the peace that has long been established," Anwar said.
