College student killed in three-vehicle pile-up in Alor Gajah


ALOR GAJAH: A college student has been killed after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a three-vehicle crash on Jalan Bukit Tambun, Durian Tunggal, on Wednesday (Feb 4).

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said the incident occurred at about 7.45am and the 20-year-old victim sustained serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at Melaka Hospital.

“Initial investigations found that the motorcycle ridden by the student was travelling from Sungai Udang to Selandar Community College before crashing into the rear right side of a car driven by a 48-year-old woman.

“As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was thrown into the opposite lane before being hit by a trailer driven by a 49-year-old man,” he said in a statement.

Supt Ahmad said the crash caused severe damage to the student’s motorcycle. The victim, who was seriously injured, was rushed to Melaka Hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Members of the public with information related to the incident can contact the investigating officer, Insp Nurul Salina Rosli, at 011-2543 5507 to assist in the investigation. – Bernama
