SHAH ALAM: The PAS Syura Council has agreed to accept the appeals of three Perlis state assemblymen whose party memberships were terminated in December last year.
Sinar Harian reported that PAS spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin said the appeals were submitted by Saad Seman (Chuping assemblyman), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong assemblyman) and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji assemblyman).
He said the decision to reinstate them was based on Quranic principles regarding brotherhood and reconciliation as outlined in Surah al-Hujurat.
Hashim added that the command of the Quran is to strengthen brotherhood rather than terminating members without compassion.
"The mercy of Allah and reconciliation are prioritised over fueling anger within the congregation. The method of Prophet Muhammad in punishment was to prioritise repentance and open the door of forgiveness rather than rushing to penalise," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Feb 1).
He noted that Islamic jurisprudence dictates that "harm must be eliminated," and having three state constituencies without functioning representatives created a clear public harm. He stressed that the welfare of the people should not be sacrificed for the sake of strict party administration.
"The goal of Sharia-compliant politics is to maintain the unity of the ranks, preserve internal trust and manage differences without destroying the group. The people should not become victims of internal party conflict," he said.
The decision was reached during the second PAS Syura Council meeting for the 2026/2030 session held on Jan 27 at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. Hashim maintained that the council must act as a fair, mediating and forgiving body to unite party members, especially in Perlis, to ensure no further hostility.
