Missing girl, six, feared fallen into Sungai Daro, Sarawak

SIBU: A six-year-old girl is missing and feared to have fallen into Sungai Daro in Kampung Panchor, Daro on Sunday (Feb 1).

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said they received a call about the missing girl at about 2.28pm and dispatched a team from the Daro Fire and Rescue Station to the location.

"According to the report, the girl had left by herself through the back gate of the house without either parent realising it.

"The father then found the daughter's footprints heading to the river at 1pm and contacted the Fire Department," the department said in a statement the same day.

The department launched a search along the riverbanks and the forest behind the girl's home in a 500m radius, aided by villagers in boats going upstream and downstream.

"Operations were suspended at 6pm and will resume on Monday morning," the department added. - Bernama
