PETALING JAYA: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has denied allegations that his party wants to sideline Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in Perikatan Nasional, according to Sinar Harian.
“It’s not true, it’s not true (to sideline Muhyiddin),” he told reporters after participating in the PAS pemukiman (retreat) programme at the Tenera Hotel, Bangi on Sunday (Feb 1).
The Marang MP said that, on the contrary, PAS wanted to continue the unity within Perikatan, a matter that was brought up but not discussed during the yearly programme.
Earlier, Abdul Hadi arrived at the Tenera Hotel at about 9.40am using a wheelchair, assisted by his officers, to attend the third day of the annual PAS Central permukiman on the third day.
Meanwhile, the PAS president’s political secretary, Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman, said that the three-day retreat was a routine event held at the beginning of each year and has nothing to do with any political crisis.
"As mentioned by Tuan Guru deputy president (Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man), in the pemukiman, the three days have nothing to do with Perlis or Perikatan issues because it was arranged in advance," he said.
He addedthat the programme focused on discussing strategy, administration, and management involving states and assemblies.
The event is also a platform to study preparations for the state elections, such as Melaka and Terengganu, and early preparations for the 16th General Election (GE16).
"We expect the Melaka and Sarawak state elections to be held this year, and even the GE16 may take place this year, so it is routine at the beginning of the year for PAS Central, the Syura council, the state assemblies and the states (to gather)," he said.
He stressed the atmosphere throughout the event was very harmonious, with balanced discussions to ensure that all parties were in agreement in determining the direction and what upcoming work needs to be carried out.
