PETALING JAYA: From environmental concerns to social welfare needs, many communities often face challenges that demand sustained attention and action.

Recognising the need to push for action, the Star Social Impact Grant (SSIG) Programme 2026 has been launched to foster and empower impactful and sustainable projects across Malaysia.

A key initiative under the Star Foundation, the charitable arm of the Star Media Group, the programme invites passionate social changemakers from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and social enterprises to apply for grants aimed at driving positive change in Malaysian communities.

Now in its sixth year, the programme will cover five core areas, namely environmental protection, community development, education, access to basic needs and infrastructure, as well as health and well-being.

Successful applicants will receive up to RM50,000 per project, empowering them with the ability to implement their initiatives over a 12-month period following the grant disbursement.

NGOs and social enterprises with innovative, social-driven initiatives are encouraged to seize this opportunity with applications for the SSIG programme now open from Feb 1 to March 31, 2026.

This year’s SSIG stands once more at the core of the Star Foundation’s mission, which is the belief in the power of collective action to drive meaningful change.

Over the past five years, the SSIG programme has funded 19 impactful social projects, awarding a total of RM849,000 in grants with these initiatives having helped improve the lives of local communities and contribute to environmental conservation efforts across Malaysia.

In addition to the SSIG programme, Star Foundation also continues to support sustainable community causes via its supporting NGOs programme and Medical Fund programme.

Since its inception in 2004, Star Foundation has donated over RM21mil to 389 NGOs, and provided financial assistance to 25 underprivileged individuals under 21 years old for a one-off treatment of their chronic illnesses. To date, the Medical Fund programme has supported 25 beneficiaries with total contributions over RM1.3mil.
