MACC officers told to uphold integrity and moral courage

KUALA LUMPUR: Integrity remains the backbone of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and must be safeguarded through honesty, avoidance of conflicts of interest and the defence of the commission’s dignity.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (Management and Professionalism) Datuk Junipah Wandi said officers must continuously instil strong ethical values as they transition into supervisory and leadership roles with greater responsibility and accountability.

“The MACC Supervisory Transition Course served as a vital platform to prepare officers moving from operational duties to leadership positions. Officers are urged to uphold the spirit of being bold and radical in the fight against corruption, and to possess the moral courage to stand for the truth without fear or favour," she said.

She added that this includes the courage to reject any instructions that are contrary to the law. Junipah spoke at the closing ceremony of the MACC Supervisory Transition Course on Friday (Jan 30).

The two-week course involved 35 officers and was held from Jan 19 to 30 at Kem Amazing Legacy in Lenggong, Perak, and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA).

Also present were MACA senior director Datuk Mohd Hafaz Nazar, deputy director of the academy and basic training Mohd Saud Ayutollah Abdul Manan and other senior MACC officers.
