Nearly 3,000 open burning cases reported so far this year, marking 300% increase


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 2,917 open burning cases involving 328 hectares of land were reported from Jan 1 until Tuesday (Jan 27), a significant increase of 300 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The Fire and Rescue Department said that 287 of the 328 hectares involved in open burning had been extinguished, while operations are still ongoing at the remaining 41 hectares.
