New PSSC appointments made following last month's Cabinet reshuffle


KUALA LUMPUR: New appointments have been made to the Parliamentary Special Select Committees (PSSC) to replace MPs who have been appointed to the Cabinet as ministers and deputies following the reshuffle last month.

Former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, who was dropped from her ministerial post has been elected as a member of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), according to the minutes of meeting of the Committee of Selection, chaired by Dewan Rakyat Tan Sri Johari Abdul released on Monday (Jan 26).

Dr Zaliha (PH-Sekijang) will be replacing Sim Tze Tzin (PH-Bayan Baru), who has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry during the reshuffle.

Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (BN-Simpang Renggam) will replace Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (BN-Paya Besar) in the Finance and Economy PSSC, following the latter’s appointment as Deputy Economy Minister. Shahar was the previous chairman of the Finance and Economy PSSC.

As for the health PSSC, Tan Kar Hing (PH-Gopeng) will replace Sim, who was the vice-chairman of this PSSC, and Onn Abu Bakar (PH-Batu Pahat) will replace Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari (PH-Sungai Petani), who has been appointed as the Youth and Sports Minister.

In the Security PSSC, Jimmy Puah (PH-Tebrau) will be replacing Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim bin Syed Noh, who is now the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability. Syed Ibrahim was the vice-chairman of the PSSC.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Lo Su Fui(GRS-Tawau) has been replaced by Datuk Matbali Musah in the House’s Committee and by Datuk Jonathan Yassin (GRS-Ranau) in the Finance and Economy Ministry.
