SHAH ALAM: A 13-year-old girl endured a terrifying ordeal when she was believed to have been abducted by an unknown individual while in a vehicle parked by the roadside near a secondary school in Section 25 here on Sunday (Jan 18).
Shah Alam District Police chief Asst Comm Ramsay Embol said the incident occurred at about 7pm, according to Sinar Harian.
He said the victim was in a car at the time of the incident.
“Investigations found that the victim had asked her father for the car keys to start the engine because she wanted to sit in the car.
“The victim was sitting in the back seat and playing on her mobile phone,” he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 19).
Ramsay said the suspect entered the car and only realised there was a victim inside when the child screamed.
He added that the suspect did not act violently and only ordered the victim to remain quiet.
Based on information from the public, he said, the victim and the vehicle were later found safe by the roadside near a restaurant, about four kilometres from the scene of the incident.
“The victim did not suffer any injuries but remains traumatised by what happened.
“The vehicle was examined by the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters Forensic Team before being taken back to the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters for further action,” he said.
He stressed that efforts to track down the suspect are being actively pursued and that the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft and Section 363 of the Penal Code for abducting a minor from lawful custody.
“Any individual with further information can contact the investigating officer, Inspector Ahmad Mokhsin Abdul Rahman, at 011-1755 4394,” he said.
