Melaka announces special public holiday for civil servants on 1 Ramadan


MELAKA: The Melaka state government has announced a special holiday for all state and federal civil servants in the state on 1 Ramadan, which is expected to fall on Feb 19.

"Hopefully, this holiday can be put to good use. Hopefully, with this Ramadan holiday, we can bring those who are far away closer, and those who have not been able to be together for a long time can be reunited," said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh (pic).

He said this during the 2026 New Year's Address, themed 'Year of Implementation: Sustainability Indicators, Fulfilling Trust, Strengthening Performance,' at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) Ayer Keroh here on Monday (Jan 19).

Also present were Melaka State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Ibrahim Durum and Melaka State Secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad.

According to the announcement, Melaka would have four consecutive public holidays starting with the Chinese New Year celebration on Feb 17 and 18, the special holiday of 1st Ramadan (Feb 19), the Independence Day of the Federation of Malaya (Feb 20) and weekend holidays on Saturday and Sunday (Feb 21 and 22). – Bernama
