Motorcyclist killed after collision with another bike in Lenggong

IPOH: A 47-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a motorcycle crashed into his vehicle at KM49 of Jalan Gerik-Kuala Kangsar, near Kampung Gelok in Lenggong.

Gerik OCPD Superintendent Abdul Samad Othman said the victim died while receiving treatment at the Kuala Kangsar Hospital following the incident on Sunday (Oct 18) at about 9pm.

Supt Abdul Samad said the victim and another 36-year-old motorcyclist were travelling in the same direction from Kuala Kangsar towards Gerik before the incident.

"The 36-year-old was travelling behind the victim's motorcycle and could not stop in time before crashing into it.

"Both men were sent to the Lenggong health clinic before the deceased was referred to the hospital for further treatment," he said in a statement.

"The 36-year-old suffered injuries on his face and is still being treated," he added.

Supt Abdul Samad said the matter would be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.

He urged those with information of the incident to come forward to assist the investigation.

"Road users are advised to ensure their vehicles are in good condition, with working lights and to adhere to traffic laws, especially during night time," he added.
