Seven bikers held for dangerous road activities in Terengganu

JERTIH: Seven men aged between 17 and 32 were detained under Op Samseng Jalanan along Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Baru here on Thursday (Jan 15).

Acting Besut OCPD Deputy Supt Md Sani Md Saleh said the motorcyclists were arrested for dangerous activities on the road.

"The operation, which ran from 1am to 4.30am, focused on the areas in Kampung Padang Luas, Padang Landak and Lak Lok.

"Through this operation, we detected a group of motorcyclists carrying out extreme actions on the road. Their actions not only endanger their own lives, but also threaten the safety of other road users,” he said in a statement on Friday (Jan 16).

He added that all the suspects, including some who work as mechanics and labourers, have been remanded for three days to assist with the investigations.

The operation, which involved two officers and 26 members of the Besut Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), also saw seven motorcycles seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

DSP Md Sani said police will continue to conduct similar operations to ensure such dangerous and reckless actions on the road do not recur.

He also advised parents to constantly monitor their children's movements so that they do not get caught up in street thug activities. – Bernama
