Cops hunting man posing as police officer in alleged molest, assault case

KUALA LUMPUR: A woman was allegedly molested and assaulted by a man impersonating a police officer in an incident here.

In a statement on Wednesday (Jan 14), Wangsa Maju OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Lazim Ismail said police received a report on Tuesday from the 22-year-old victim.

He said the incident occurred at about 5.15am while the victim was sleeping inside her car parked in front of a supermarket in Medan Idaman, Gombak.

“The suspect, who was impersonating a police officer, entered the victim’s vehicle and covered her mouth before molesting her,” he said.

The victim screamed for help during the struggle, prompting the suspect to punch her in the eye, causing swelling, he added.

The suspect then fled the scene on a motorcycle.

“Efforts to trace the suspect are ongoing and investigations are still underway,” he said.
