Proud to have served together, Akmal Saleh thanks Melaka CM for guidance

PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said he had “expressed his aspirations and heartfelt sentiments” to Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh during a meeting, amid his recent outspoken remarks on the party’s direction.

In a message posted on his Instagram, Dr Akmal described Ab Rauf as the person who first introduced him to Umno’s struggle during his days as a student leader, and someone who played a significant role in shaping his understanding of leadership and political struggle.

“He is the individual who introduced Umno’s struggle to me since I became a student leader, and who taught me much about leadership and the meaning of struggle,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation for Ab Rauf’s guidance, saying he was proud to have served alongside the Melaka chief minister.

“Thank you, brother. The service and knowledge you have given cannot be repaid one by one. I am proud to have served together,” he added.

Dr Akmal, however, did not elaborate further on the substance of the discussions held during the meeting with Ab Rauf.

The post comes amid recent public remarks by Dr Akmal on Umno and Barisan Nasional, including comments on the party’s position and direction within the unity government.

His statements have prompted discussion within the party on its strategy and future direction following recent electoral performances.
