A JAPANESE court has ordered a man to pay ¥1.5mil (RM39,000) in damages for concealing his marital status from a woman he met on a dating app, causing her physical and psychological harm, Oriental Daily reported.

The woman, identified only as Aida, met the man, known as Kondo, through the app in 2023.

Kondo, who was married with two children, claimed to be a bachelor and began a relationship with Aida in May.

Aida said she was repeatedly assured of his single status.

She claimed that Kondo later made excessive sexual demands, leaving her with an injury and a sexually transmitted infection.

Kondo cut off contact last October after his wife discovered the affair.

Aida later learned he had a family and filed a legal suit against him. The court ruled in her favour, citing deception and the harm caused.

> The daily also reported that Japanese actress Ryoko Hiromasu was fined ¥700,000 (RM18,098) for negligent driving, causing injury after a high-speed crash in Shizuoka prefecture last year.

A local court ruled on Dec 23 that Hiromasu, 45, had been driving at 185kph in a tunnel on the northbound lane of an expressway – 65kph over the speed limit.

She was unable to avoid a lorry despite braking suddenly. Her car crashed into the lorry before hitting the tunnel wall.

A male friend travelling with her suffered fractured ribs.

Her management agency said Hiromasu would pay the fine promptly.

> Award-winning Taiwanese singer songwriter Ricky Hsiao Huang-chi, 49, has announced his marriage to his girlfriend of over a year, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The celebrity, who was born blind, shared a photo on social media of the couple wearing their wedding rings.

Hsiao kept details about his wife private. According to reports, she is a certified pet trainer.
