Singaporean couple killed in Kota Tinggi after supercar crashes, bursts into flames


KOTA TINGGI: A Singaporean couple were killed after the supercar they were travelling in skidded and burst into flames in an accident at KM57.5 of Jalan Johor Baru-Mersing here on Saturday (May 9).

The victims were identified as Yeo Tian Wen Leong, 34, and Ng Puay Ying, 33.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said police received information about the incident from members of the public at about 9am Saturday (May 9).

“The accident involved a supercar driven by the male victim with the woman seated in the front passenger seat.

“The car is believed to have skidded on its own before crashing, causing both victims to suffer severe injuries and burns. They were pronounced dead at the scene,” he said here on Saturday evening.

Supt Yusof said the bodies were sent to the forensic unit at Kota Tinggi for post-mortem procedures.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
