PETALING JAYA: Amid the current rainy season, Malaysians with respiratory conditions should pay close attention to their health as erratic weather can increase the risk of sinus flare-ups and breathing complications, says a medical expert.
Association of Specialists in Private Medical Practice Malaysia president Datuk Dr Balwant Singh Gendeh (pic) said those with lung conditions like asthma should be especially careful if they exhibit flu-like symptoms.
“Seek medical attention to avoid unwanted complications,” said Dr Balwant, an ENT senior consultant, when contacted.
He also proposed for the public to get their annual influenza vaccinations as an added precaution.
Seniors, meanwhile, should also opt for the pneumococcal vaccination.
Malaysia is currently experiencing the north-east monsoon. According to Malaysian Meteorological Department, the monsoon will last until March.
