'Truth prevails', says Zahid in expressing gratitude at AGC's NFA decision


SHAH ALAM: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed gratitude following the decision by the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) to discontinue the prosecution against him in the case involving 47 charges related to breach of trust, corruption, and money laundering of Yayasan Akalbudi funds.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Bagan Datuk MP, stated that the decision proves the truth has finally emerged after a lengthy legal process.

“Praise be to God. Time ultimately answers everything, the truth prevails,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Jan 8).

Ahmad Zahid is free after the AGC decided no further action (NFA) would be taken in the case.

The decision follows a review of the entire investigation and new evidence after the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Sept 4, 2023, granted him a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) on the charges.

According to the department, further detailed investigations were conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), covering aspects related to the source of funds, methods of acquisition, and use of the funds, including issues raised in six representations submitted to the AGC after he was called to defend himself.
