MetMalaysia issues severe thunderstorm warning for multiple states on Jan 7


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several regions across Malaysia, including parts of Kedah, Perak, Kelantan and Sarawak.

This advisory follows forecasts of thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds.

Affected areas include Sik and Baling in Kedah; Hulu Perak in Perak; Jeli, Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang in Kelantan; and Kuching, Samarahan (including Samarahan and Asajaya), and Mukah in Sarawak. Residents in these regions are advised to remain vigilant, as the storms are expected to last until 11.00am on Wednesday (Jan 7).

Warnings have been issued due to indications of thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour. These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours per issuance.
