Sabah's Chief Minister promises comprehensive development plans for a brighter 2026

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is fully prepared to implement holistic, inclusive and comprehensive development plans to ensure sustained prosperity and a brighter, more competitive future for the state as it welcomes the New Year 2026.

In his New Year message, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (pic) stated that 2026 marks a new chapter for the state, with continued determination and a spirit of togetherness.

“Reflecting on 2025, it was a productive year, built on a solid foundation of development and consistent progress through the implementation of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 1.0 development plan.

“The state government will continue on this path through the Hala Tuju SMJ 2.0, by reinforcing our commitment to unity, prosperity, and inclusive development, ensuring that all Sabahans can fairly enjoy the progress achieved,” he said on Wednesday (Dec 31).

Hajiji also expressed gratitude to Sabahans for the new mandate to continue leading the state, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening governance, ensuring political stability, and driving comprehensive development for the well-being of the people.

“We deeply value this trust and support. It is a significant responsibility that we will fulfil with full accountability and dedication,” he said.

He added that over the past five years, sustained efforts to build stability and a conducive environment have produced tangible results and benefited the state.

“Together with my State Cabinet colleagues, I extend my sincere greetings to all in welcoming the New Year,” Hajiji said, wishing all Sabahans good health, well-being, and success in the coming year.
