Cops dispose of case items worth RM3.5mil


SERDANG: The police have disposed of RM3.5mil worth of items involving cases investigated since 2010.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the disposal was carried out in accordance with the Inspector-General of Police’s Standing Orders and Section 407(2) of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Among the items disposed of were 283,872 cartons of cigarettes, 53,691 cans and bottles of alcoholic beverages, 178 units of gambling-related items, 353 cryptocurrency mining machines, and other general case items.

He said the cases involved a total of 673 investigation papers.

"All the seized items have gone through a complete and orderly legal process before the disposal," he told a press conference at Serdang district police headquarters on Tuesday (Dec 30).

ACP Muhamad Farid added that the seized items were the result of investigations by various departments, including the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID), Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
