‘Madani govt will not sideline Sabah and Sarawak’

KOTA KINABALU: Policies under the government have been inclusive for all states and regions as they are aimed at building a prosperous, fair and united country, says Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mustapha Sakmud (pic).

He said continuous efforts in assisting others were to ensure all states, including the regions of Sabah and Sarawak, were part of a prosperous nation.

“These efforts prove that the Madani government had never sidelined any region or state, but instead ensures Sarawak and Sabah remain important strategic partners in building a prosperous, fair and united Malaysia,” said Mustapha, who is minister in charge of Sabah and Sarawak.

“I call upon all Malaysians, especially the people of Sarawak and Sabah, to continue supporting the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in realising the nation’s development agenda based on Madani principles, in line with the aspirations of ‘Segulai Sejalai’ (together in one united direction) and Sabah Maju Jaya,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Mustapha said the government remains committed to further strengthening the development agenda in Sarawak and Sabah for the well-being of the people and the stability of the nation’s future.

This commitment outlined by Anwar was to ensure both regions receive the “rightful attention and protection” from the Federal Government, he said.

For Sarawak, he said the government is committed to driving inclusive and sustainable economic development through strategic investments, strengthening the energy sector, developing infrastructure and creating high-value jobs.

As for Sabah, Mustapha said the priority is on efforts to accelerate basic development projects, improve public facilities and stimulate overall economic growth in the region.

“The government’s continued emphasis on the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), including issues of administration, finance, and resource management such as oil and gas, demonstrates the Madani government’s determination to ensure the rights and interests of Sabah and Sarawak are preserved fairly and in a principled manner.

“The benefits of development must reach the people directly, including those in rural and interior areas,” he added.
