Number of flood victims in Pahang falls to 79


KUANTAN: The number of flood victims in Pahang has decreased to 79 people from 27 families at four temporary relief centres as of 8.30am on Wednesday (Dec 24), compared with 86 people from 29 families at five centres yesterday evening.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s Infobencana application, 14 people from four families are housed at the Kampung Semangat Community Hall in Kuantan, while 35 people from six families remain at the Kampung Baru Pertanian Community Hall in Maran.

In Pekan, 30 victims from 17 families are still staying at two relief centres, namely Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah and SK Pulau Manis.

The Infobanjir website reported that the Pahang River at Paloh Hinai, Pekan, remained above the danger level as of 8am today.

Last week’s continuous heavy rain triggered flooding in several districts, with the number of evacuees exceeding 13,000. - Bernama
