RESIDENTS in several housing areas in Bertam, Kepala Batas, Penang, were gripped by fear following claims of mysterious knockings on their doors, accompanied by a chilling greeting, Kosmo! reported.

A woman, who wished to be known as Juliana, 47, said she was in shock after hearing the knock on the front door of her double-storey terrace house in Taman Shahbandar.

“It happened when I had just woken up to get ready for work. I panicked when I heard a man’s voice saying “kom ... kom” twice while knocking forcefully on the door.

“The tone sounded urgent, angry and it was extremely loud. I tried pulling aside the curtains and peered through the bedroom window, but I couldn’t see anyone,” Juliana said.

According to her, this was the first time such a mysterious incident had occurred in the neighbourhood. More than 20 households are believed to have experienced the same thing.

“We realised that it didn’t just affect our neighbourhood. Residents in Taman Bentara and Taman Panglima were also disturbed,” she said.

> The story of Mona Fandey continues to haunt the public, Mingguan Malaysia reported.

Mona was executed by hanging in 2001 for murdering the late Batu Talam state assemblyman Datuk Mohd Mazlan Idris.

Her former home in Kampung Peruas in Raub, Pahang, has been abandoned and overgrown with bushes. A huge tree as thick as an adult’s embrace now stands tall in the middle of the living room, as if acting as a “guardian” of the house.
