Elderly man who lived alone found dead in Kuantan house

KUANTAN: An elderly man has been found dead, believed to have died several days ago, in Taman Seri Inderapura here.

Kuantan police chief Asst Comm Ashari Abu Samah said an emergency call came in at 7.50pm via MERS 999 from a complainant who reported a foul smell coming from the victim's house.

He said police broke down the locked door to find the man dead on a chair in the living room.

"The victim, Lim Jin, 78, lived alone and likely died several days ago, based on the state of the body's decay," he said in a statement here on Friday (Dec 19).

He said the complainant told police that the deceased had lived there for more than 30 years and last saw him about five days ago.

Ashari said investigations showed no criminal elements.

"Further examination revealed several types of medication belonging to the victim. Checks with medical authorities indicated they were for high blood pressure, heart disease, cholesterol medication and also prostrate cancer," he said.

The victim's body was taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for further action and efforts to trace the next of kin are underway. – Bernama
