THE family of a police officer who died while serving in Labuan 12 years ago has yet to receive any compensation, Makkal Osai reported.

Prem Prakash Shanmugam died in a traffic accident in Labuan in 2013 after 11 years with PDRM. He was reportedly on duty at the time of the accident.

Selangor state exco member V. Papparaidu said the victim’s mother Manimegalai Karuppiah came to the state’s MySel centre in Shah Alam to seek help.

MySel officers have written to the relevant government departments for assistance in the matter, he said.

The victim’s disabled father and sister, who lost her hand in an accident, are both in Manimegalai’s care.

Prem Prakash’s daughter Suvenya is also under the grandmother’s care, and the family is struggling to make ends meet, Papparaidu said.

MySel will help the struggling mother clear the hurdles in obtaining the compensation and assistance that should rightfully go to the family, he said.
