New HR Minister Ramanan looking to further strengthen nation's workforce development


PETALING JAYA: The nation's workforce development agenda will be further strengthened in a comprehensive and inclusive manner in line with the Madani aspiration, says Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.

The newly-appointed Human Resources Minister thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the trust placed in him following his appointment.

"I also represent the Indian community in the country in expressing my gratitude, “nandri” (thank you) to the Prime Minister for the honour and mandate entrusted to me to serve as the Human Resources Minister," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 16).

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced Ramanan as a full minister and would now head the Human Resources ministry.

Ramanan is the Sungai Buloh MP and was previously the Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister.

Ramanan said he would be holding meetings with the top leadership of the Human Resources Ministry soon after the swearing-in ceremony.

"I will carry out this duty and responsibility with full dedication and commitment to meet the expectations of Malaysians, including the Indian community, as well as the nation, in line with the Malaysia Madani framework," he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Kuskop) and all its officers.

"Throughout the nearly two years of my service at Kuskop, I received strong support and close cooperation from all agencies in advancing the economic development agenda of the Indian community," he said.
