PETALING JAYA: While congratulating members of the new Cabinet line-up, the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) urged them to prioritise clear, consistent and business-friendly policies.
ACCCIM president Datuk Ng Yih Pyng expressed hope that the reshuffle would translate into faster implementation of national plans and high-impact initiatives, while improving efficiency and good governance across ministries to better support the business community.
He said strong execution and policy continuity are essential as the country enters the final leg of its push towards high-income nation status under the Madani Economy Framework and the 13th Malaysia Plan.
Ng stressed that a stable and conducive business environment remains crucial to sustaining domestic direct investment, particularly among small and medium enterprises, while continuing to attract foreign direct investment.
"ACCCIM urges the ministries of International Trade and Industry, Economy, and Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development to prioritise policies outlined in the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the 13th Malaysia Plan.
"These include measures to enhance cost competitiveness, strengthen trade flows, support the growth of domestic small and medium enterprises and address rising business costs as well as cost-of-living pressures," Ng said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 16).
He also emphasised the importance of stakeholder engagement when new policies and regulations are shaped, adding that businesses continue to face challenges such as higher operating costs, talent shortages and tax-related issues.
He said the businesses are seeking faster and more simplified processes and support for initiatives such as the Iltizam Act and a review of outdated laws.
Ng said ACCCIM will continue working closely with the government and stakeholders to support ongoing reforms, enhance national competitiveness and help steer Malaysia towards sustainable and higher-quality economic growth.
