Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in Terengganu and Pahang

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds across Terengganu and Pahang, effective until 1pm on Saturday (Dec 13).

MetMalaysia, in a statement, said the severe weather is expected to affect multiple areas in Terengganu, including Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman.

A similar warning has also been issued for parts of Pahang (Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin).

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when there are signs indicating a thunderstorm with a rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that is imminent or expected to occur for more than one hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a period not exceeding six hours for any single release.
