Bomba cleaning up chemical spill near Pasir Gudang


PASIR GUDANG: A chemical spill has occurred on Jalan Teruntum 3 in the Tanjung Langsat industrial area near here.

Psair Gudang Fire and Rescue station deputy chief Sarhan Akmal said an emergency call was received about the incident at 8.12am on Friday (Dec 12).

"Our men cordoned off a 300m-long stretch where the chemical spill occurred," he said in a statement, adding that they had yet to identify the substance involved.

He said 17 firemen were involved in the operation led by operation commander senior officer Iszahwati Supardi.

Sarhan said the team arrived at the scene located about 12km from the station at 8.25am.

The clean-up operation is still ongoing.
