Stop glorifying those who give bribes, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed concern over the growing trend of glorifying bribe givers.

"Now we have a trend of idolising and glorifying bribe givers," the Prime Minister said, adding that this was worrying as it would impede the country’s ability to advance.

Speaking at the Works Ministry’s monthly assembly here on Monday (Dec 8), Anwar stressed that human values should not be compromised in the course of development.

He said the nation sometimes loses sight of its human values because of ideological or political differences.

He said it is not buildings and bridges that are built, as these structures are meant to serve humans.

"So human values should not be forgotten," he added.
