Zahid: BN Melaka candidate line-up can still be changed

BAGAN DATUK: There is still time to change Barisan Nasional's Melaka election candidate line-up, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister said he has yet to sign the letters of endorsement and Barisan component party leaders can still discuss it.

He said it was true that MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong was caught by surprise during the announcement in Melaka on Saturday (Oct 24).

"He was surprised because the secretariat did not inform him about the candidate announcement.

"We will resolve this issue. We will have discussions before Oct 31," he said in a press conference after flagging off the Bagan Datuk District Sultan Nazrin Shah Bridge Run here on Sunday (Oct 25).

"I will leave the matter to Melaka Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof, as maybe he has discussed MCA leaders," he added.

MCA leaders walked out of the candidate announcement programme at the Melaka International Trade Centre on Saturday (Oct 24).

This was after seats previously contested by the party were allocated to other parties.
