Zahid: Indonesia struggles with haze relief due to cloudless skies, low visibility

BAGAN DATUK: There are no clouds in Indonesian airspace to conduct cloud seeding operations, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister said this was one of several issues Indonesia faces while trying to alleviate the haze caused by uncontrolled wildfires.

Ahmad Zahid said he recently spoke with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto about the issue.

"They are unable to do cloud seeding operations because there are no clouds.

"Another issue is with the visibility factor, as they are unable to fly under such conditions," he said in a press conference after flagging off the Bagan Datuk District Sultan Nazrin Shah Bridge Run here on Sunday (Oct 25).

"We still hope that the issue can be settled, as it affects neighbouring countries," he said, adding that Malaysia stands ready to assist.
