LRT deferment sparks commuter disappointment

PETALING JAYA: Potential users of the Shah Alam LRT have expressed disappointment with the recent deferment of the line, especially the announcement by Transport Minister Anthony Loke in November that the line may open by Dec 31.

Facebook user Kean Joo posted on the Star Online’s page: “But why so late? The tracks were ready months ago.”

Another user, Tham H. Chun, expressed doubt whether the Dec 31 date can happen.

“Sure or not?? Hopefully, it’s not going to be postponed again,” he wrote.

Another user, Ng Chen Hong, who seems to understand the gravity of the situation, replied: “Unfortunately, there is a problem with the Shah Alam station track... so it’s most likely to be delayed again.

“The post suggests it’s likely to be opened on Dec 31, but the opening date is subject to the test results... if it’s not fine, then it would most likely be delayed to March 2026.”

Meanwhile, others made references to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s aerotrain, which had broken down several times since its relaunch on July 1.
