Police investigate Gombak domestic helper abuse claim


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched an investigation into a local domestic helper’s claim that she was abused by her employer.

Gombak district police chief Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said the victim fled the house and sought help from neighbours after allegedly being abused by her employer, who is also a local, on Saturday (Dec 6).

"The victim sought medical assistance and lodged a police report. The report from the 22-year-old woman was received at 8.38pm yesterday," he said in a statement on Sunday (Dec 7).

Members of the public with information related to the incident are urged to contact Asst Supt Ikhwanizam Ismail at 019-6000468 or the Gombak district police headquarters operations room at 03-61262222 to assist with the investigation. - Bernama
