Takiyuddin: Let MACC probe Padang Serai MP’s graft case without interference

KOTA BHARU: Perikatan chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan says the party will leave it entirely to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate Padang Serai MP Datuk Azman Nasrudin, who was detained in connection with a corruption case.

According to Sinar Harian, he said Perikatan would not interfere with the investigation and would allow the legal process to take its course.

"We leave it to the legal process and will wait for the outcome of the investigation. The matter is still under investigation, so I cannot comment further," he told a press conference after attending the Majlis Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat (with the Indian community) at the Kelantan Trade Centre on Friday (Dec 6).

Takiyuddin said Perikatan is open about the issue and hopes the Padang Serai MP will be given the right to legal representation.

On Friday (Dec 6), Sinar Harian reported that Azman confirmed he was detained by the MACC for charges related to a state government cattle farming joint-venture project in Kedah. However, Azman questioned why his status had changed from witness to accused in the case.
