MALAYSIAN singer Jesslyn Tan (pic) emerged as one of the 12 finalists in the Chinese reality singing competition Sound Trek 2025 despite setbacks in the earlier rounds, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The 26-year-old debuted six years ago and has made a name for herself as the “Next Generation Official Soundtrack Singer”, having had 15 of her songs featured in TV dramas.

Tan took part in Sound Trek 2025, which began airing in October, but was relegated to the sidelines in the earlier episodes.

She saw a breakthrough after performing the love ballad Tiptoe To You which impressed veteran coach Na Ying so much that she took Tan under her tutelage on the show.

“Her voice is very pure and her emotions are real. Once she becomes more stable, she will be unbeatable,” Na Ying said.

With coaching, the young singer saw tremendous improvements on the show and continued to impress audiences with her performances.

Her rendition of See You When I See You by Gloria Tang won the hearts of viewers, earning her a seat among the top 12 finalists.

“Her singing gave me goosebumps,” one viewer wrote.

Even though the competition is still ongoing, Tan has attracted interest among film and TV producers.

Production teams have begun reaching out to Tan for upcoming projects.

Reflecting on her journey on the show, Tan thanked everyone who supported her as well as Na Ying for her guidance.

“I hope to tell more stories through my singing, bringing warmth and strength to everyone,” she said, adding that she planned to showcase more Malaysian music on stage in the future.
