DESPITE warnings that weak passwords are a major reason hackers can quickly access accounts and devices, “123456” still tops the list of the most commonly used passwords worldwide.

According to Nanyang Siang Pau, two other popular passwords are “Admin” and “12345678”.

Cybersecurity firms NordPass and NordStellar, after analysing millions of leaked passwords, said they found that the most frequently used passwords in the United States included “Password”, “Aa123456”, “abc123” and “Welcome1”.

While more passwords now include special characters, many users still rely on predictable patterns such as “P@ssw0rd” or “Abcd@1234”.
